Cluny Abbey
Founded more than a 1,000 years ago, its sculptured stonework expresses the purest Romanesque art; its religious and political influence extended throughout Europe with more than 15, 000 monks in 1,200 monasteries and priories.
Each year more than 100, 000 people visit Cluny Abbey, which in its time was the rival of
Saint Peter's in Rome.

LA TOUR DES FROMAGES (Cheese Tower):
The oldest building that can be visited in the Abbey. Panorama over the whole town and the Maçon hills.
L'HOTEL DIEU (hospital):
Built by the Cardinal de Bouillon of the Abbey of Cluny, in 1683. Apothecary with wood paneling in the Empire style. Collection of 17th and 18th century jars.
ARCHEOLOGY MUSEUM:
Presentation of sculpture and architectural exhibits from the Abbey and the medieval town.
LES ECURIES ST HUGUES (Saint Hugues' Stables)
Exhibitions are held throughout the year.
NATIONAL STUD FARM (horses):
Founded in 1806 by Napoleon, it houses about 60 purebred stud stallions and Auxois draft horses. The procession of horse drawn carriages and thoroughbred stallions, that takes place every year in the last week of August, is something that is not to be missed.

No visit to this region is complete without going to the Cave wine cellar, a genuine theatre where the unforgettable main roles are played by the great wine growths of Burgundy and the enthusiastic men and women who make them.
You can taste some of the famous growths from the Maçon region of Burgundy and take the wine circuit called "Suivez la Grappe" (Follow the Grapes).
This tourist circuit goes through 65 wine parishes or communes (St Véran, Pouilly Fuissé, Solutré...).

The magnificent surrounding countryside is there to be discovered with its many marked walking, hiking and mountain bike tracks.

LA VOIE VERTE (the Green Road), from Givry to Cluny, is 44 kms long and ideal for family outings on foot, rollers and bikes. There are 13 marked and maintained tracks to enable you to appreciate the local life style, arts and crafts and the cultural heritage of our region.
